ZE IS WAT ZE MAAKT

For my graduation project I created a series of 5 illustrations with an animation projected over top. This work is about my search for who I am as a person and as an artist, since after 4 years of art academy, I am still not sure. But, in those 4 years I have learned a lot, experienced a lot, discovered a lot. You could say the search has become a voyage of discovery. I visualised this voyage in the underwater world, since that too is a place of endless discovery for me. The 5 works are created with different materials and techniques, which shows my search as an artist. Through this underwater world and these materials is swimming a character. This is me, since I am visualising my own search. As the character discovers and explores the underwater world, the different materials of the works are affecting her appearance. In the paper collage she turns into a piece of paper. In the watercolor her hair becomes water. In the abstract acrylic she becomes an abstract shape herself. The materials affect the character, just as learning new things affects me in real life, too. The title of this work is a […]

INCUBATE

This animation was created for the Incubate Festival. The letters in the animation spell the word ‘incubate’ and change into different festival/incubate items. I also made this into a mural. The idea of the mural was that it could be painted inbetween the different venues of the festival, so you could follow it while you walk and see the transitions, as if it was a real life stopmotion/ animation.

ONE MINUTE

This One Minute animation was based around the work ‘Maria Hemels Blauw’ by Marc Mulders. I got inspired by the work because it gave me lots of associations. In my animation I am visualising what I see when looking through Marc Mulders’ work, as if it was my own eye. An eye was also one of the associations, just like a whirlpool, the galaxy and bacteria. The animation got chosen to be exhibited in the museum The Pont. I got told Marc Mulders visited the exhibition, saw my animation and that it made him tear up, which I think is the most rewarding response I could possibly get. Click here for the animation on Youtube. (Animation will be added on here soon too)
